The finishing touch…

Okay, Today is Wednesday and we are currently in the beloved capital Stockholm. Me and Adrian have had a long day working to fix all the bugs in game while Tommy and Zacke have been busy building the exhibition booth. We´re not entirely finished but we will be tomorrow. At 15.15 we will present our work for the moduleleaders. Some compromisses have been made but I think it´s not that big of a deal. The game will have two different gaming modes: Arcade and Freestyle. So far the freestyle mode is working good. The music tracks works fine and we also added some new grahics to enhance the experience.
The arcade mode is where our mainconcerns have been. The idea is that you are given different commands which you execute with the turntable. To get highest scores you have to “time” your scratching by looking at a “scratch-o-meter”. You will be commented and of course make som nice music aswell. The technique that makes all this possible is alot of actionscript code and alot of patience. Otherwise it’s been pretty fun being in stockholm and visit the other hypernauts… See you all at the exhibition

So we’re sitting here and doing our thing. The CreamTeam is awesome.

In the past days there have been a lot of activity regarding our project. We’ve been cracking codes, making music, tweaking the turntable, pimping the turntable, drinking coffee, cursing, and much more. The clock is now 02.25 and we havent left häktet. This evening i’ve been working with sounds. Most of the code works fine just some minor debugging to done regarding the sounds. Adrian has done a awsome job making the turntableanimating move correct when its fed with rfid data. There’s alot left to be done but we’re quit happy about todays progress and we hope that we will have an awsome product ready for the exibhition soon. Adios

Well, We’re taking small steps everyday in our work. We have by now a small “library” of codesnippets for different events in our game, which Adde has programmed. The big headache will probably come when we will try to assemble it all. None of us are programmers so we’re learning the hardway. Tomorrow is the big “pimp the turntable” day. Our turntable which will act as a “gaming control” will be fitted with RFID tags and then its time to start testing our code.

I hope I doesn’t give us more headache. We’ve also worked on the graphical style of our game. It will look pretty cool i think. Anyway we have some long days with hard work ahead.

Music making, graphic creating and mindshaking!

So, im sitting and making some beats with the stateoftheart programs ive got, rjd2 would be impressed. Its really hard though, i dont have a music sense at all, but still alot of fun.

Were waiting for the turntable, hopefully its gonna show up today, but proboably not. So on monday were gonna paint and pimp it like crazy, ive got a led-hardon so i want a bunch of them but im not sure if it would look great in real life.

Anyways its all going great, im looking forward for the exhibition, and meeting the sthlm hypers.

Thats it for now, tommig, creamteam representing since 08.

Okay, Now we’ve been spending a couple of hours with planning and coding. Adrian has managed to get the RFID tags to activate different events in flash. This is a big step in our project. Our concept is to create a game in flash were the user activates different sounds and animations with rfid tags. The physical interface were the tags are connected to will be pretty cool. This will remain our secret for a while. over and out / Richard

Zackarias here…

I was sick yesterday, but today the CreamTeam is here with its full lineup!
So what am I supposed to do here? Well today I’m gonna try to get a hold of a friend of mine from Gävle (G-Town), which I hope will teach me and Tommi how to be the most awesome beatmakerz ever. The music/beats are a really big part of our project, so we have to represent true awesomeness on that part.

Adrian showed us what he had been doing the last night, and it was amazing… I almost cried!
Better get back to the real world now to do some real work, to make up for the time I missed yesterday.

Lets all pray to the mighty music maker King-K that he’ll help us!

Our Technology

We we’re handed out our technologies last friday, we got the Phidget RFID Kit, rfid stands for Radio Frequency Identity, and consists of a reader and several tags (senders) – each of the different tags has a unique ID number, one of the most used areas of rfid systems is to act as a key for entering doors, logging in etc.

We will of course focus on an entirely different area of RFID use – why follow the mainstream when you can think out of the box?

And welcome to the cream team experience technology 2008 blog. Tune in and stay on time to follow our progress in developing our technology for the show up in Stockholm. The CreamTeam consists of me, Adrian Berggren (Design and code), Richard Trabjerg (Project Manager), Tommy Gustafsson (Exhibition Executive) and Zackarias Jonsson (Design and Code).

For those of you who don’t know what “Experience Technology” is, it’s an project/exhibition were we, the students of digital media at Hyperisland, take on and use technology in a groundbreaking way to create an experience for the end-user.

More info will follow, both from me and the other members of the group as we dwell further and evolve our concept.
